Dear Jan:

I am sorry to hear that you are having health problems, and I hope that they will soon pass.

Frontiers of Science did a good job with the article, and it should get some attention. The ad should also serve its purpose. The publicity that we get out of this will undoubtedly be very helpful, and you are entitled to be congratulated on the results of your efforts.

If Ms. Philip wants to publish another article, I think it should be a follow-up of the first one, particularly since the published article practically invites such a follow-up. It opens up a number of lines of thought that could appropriately be pursued, including the new findings with respect to scalar motion that I spoke about at the conference.

In my opinion, an article aimed in this direction would be desirable from the standpoint of the magazine, since it will tend to justify publication of the first one. At the same time, it will be helpful to us by providing some advance publicity far the new book that we expect to have out early in the spring. I am therefore proposing to write such an article, and will send it to you for discussion with Ms. Philip. If she does not like it, we can then consider the alternatives.

Thanks for the photos. They came out exceptionally well, considering the fact that one of the subjects is not photogenic.

Sincerely,
