Two days ago the mail brought a package from North Pacific with a copy of the typescript of the first eleven chapters of your forthcoming book. Mr. Reilly wrote me that it was sent at your request. I thank you very much for this kindness—I had not yet ordered it simply because I did not feel confident of having mastered the material contained in your published works. But I am very pleased to have Solid Matter, and have begun to study it.
