Dear Frank:
In a recent letter Jan Sammer informed me that you are intending to take advantage of the offer that I made at the conference in August 1981 and begin publishing chapters of my book Basic Properties of Matter. Since memories of spoken words are often not very reliable, it is desirable to have a written record of our understanding with respect to this publication.
As I said at the time, this offer has to be subject to these conditions:
1. Each publication of a portion of the work should carry a notice reading as follows: Copyright 1959, 1980 by Dewey B. Larson. Published by arrangement with North Pacific Publishers.
2. It is to be understood that the agreement remains in effect only as long as all publication rights are retained by North Pacific Publishers or by me personally. It terminates if any of these rights are sold or transferred.
3. Eleven chapters of the book are now available. I will try to complete the remainder in time to meet your publication schedule, but I cannot guarantee this.
I request that one copy of this letter be returned to me with an endorsement indicating that these conditions are accepted.
