Dear Mr. Sammer:
Here is the corrected text. For your convenience I am listing the page numbers on which I have made changes, with comments where appropriate.
3, 4, 5
7 and 8 I am surprised at the removal of the ellipsis from the quotation on page 8. It seems to me that there were a few words here that I left out when I first used this. I am still not very mobile, and it is rather inconvenient to get to a library to check this (too many stairs), so I would appreciate it if you would do so. I do not like to misquote anyone, even in a small way. At the same time, if convenient, you might recheck Einstein’s (or his translator’s) spelling. I was under the impression that he put an “e” in “experimenter” (the usual practice)
13, 14, 16
17 The term “collaborator” implies a joint effort in the past. Perhaps unfortunately, I had no collaborators. The word “associates” is present-oriented, and is more appropriate.
19
22 The designation “Reciprocal System” cannot be used here without some explanation. I think it will be better to avoid it.
23 Something was left out here when the material was typed for Reciprocity. I have not been able to locate the original, but I have filled in the gap.
26
28 The last paragraph was appropriate as an ending for the speech, but it does not fit as well in print. I think we should omit it.
You seem to have all of the data on the quotations except Feynman 7 and 8. These are from the edition put out by the MIT Press (1967). Number 7 is from page 168 and Number 8 from page 129.
Publication in this magazine should be very helpful, and I want you to know that I appreciate your efforts in making this possible.
Sincerely yours,
D.B. Larson
