Dear Jan:

Within the next few days I will complete the final draft of the first seven chapters of the astronomical volume, and I will send you a copy. When you see how much is involved here, and consider that this is only one quarter of the total, you may have second thoughts about being willing to undertake the job of checking the references. If so, do not hesitate to withdraw the offer. I don’t want to inflict a burden on you.

I have received a letter from Richard Heinberg asking for permission to read the MSS of Beyond Space and Time. Since he apparently understands what I am concerned about in connection with this work, I have no objection to his reading it. He might as well be permitted to take a look at the astronomy MSS too, if he is interested. Please apologize to him, on my behalf, for not replying directly to his letter. You can explain to him that I am putting all possible time on the new book. Thanks for the cassette.

Sincerely,
