I have finally gotten around to writing a critique of the critic, my evaluation of the report of the referee on the big bang article. I don’t know that it says any more than the letter that you wrote to the editor, but I believe it is desirable to keep all lines of communication open as long as possible, and the fact that I have said something on the issues is an excuse for another contact. I have addressed the letter to you, for obvious reasons, but I have aimed it at the editor. I suggest that you forward it to her with a letter of transmittal saying something to the effect that she will no doubt be interested in my comments on the referee’s report, and my suggestions as to other articles that she might want to consider.
Perhaps the titles of the articles that I am recommending are somewhat unfamiliar to you, but I will have them ready if she nibbles at the bait.
