Dear Jan:

I am putting a package in the mail today. It ought to reach you along with this letter.

As I mentioned earlier, the subscripts are a problem. Also, when you change to a different font, the Greek letter symbols will have to be given some attention. unless you have some way of doing this on a collective basis, I presume each symbol will have to be given individual attention. I am therefore enclosing a list of those that I have used in these chapters.

The Macintosh does not have the ½ symbol that I ordinarily use in such expressions as ½-½-0. The 1/2 substitute is somewhat awkward.

Figure 25 is the one that I mentioned having problems with. How do I smooth out these lines? Also, I want to put a small arrow, pointing downward, alongside each of the vertical lines. Does Macdraw have a suitable arrow? And, if so, how do I put it where I want it?

One other thing occurs to me. The way my pages are working out, the last page of some of the chapters only contains a few lines. The pages will be different by the time you get through working them over, but you may run into something similar. If so, I can probably make some changes in the text that will avoid this waste of space.
