Enclosed please find the typeset pages for the Preface and first two chapters. Chapters 3 and 4 are now being set. I am sorry about the delay, but I ran into various problems about blanks and certain special characters, which have now been resolved.
As you see, I have been able to match the typeface of NBM quite closely—the only difference being the size of the blank space before and after quotations. The Linotron 202 simply does not accept fractional leading. Unless I run into new problems (which is possible when I get to the tables) I should be able to send 2 or 3 chapters a day to be set.
The illustrations are done; I will send you copies as soon as I can get the reductions done. The name of the illustrator is Eden G. Muir—you said you wanted to include him in the acknowledgements. Please feel free to make any needed changes in the Preface and elsewhere—the cost is only ca. 250/page.
